Dr. Davis Ice Cream was founded by its namesake, Dr. Frederick A. Davis, in 1938. "Doc" was Pepperell's best veterinarian, he focused mostly on farm animals and he actually had a few dairy cows of his own. Doc wasn't all business though. He was a jovial fellow that, along with his wife Ethel, enjoyed providing free entertainment for the whole town. Sometimes they'd show movies on the side of their house and on Saturdays the Littleton Farmer's Swing Band would come to Doc's and play "hillbilly" music. On these occasions Doc would serve his guests fresh homemade ice cream made with the cream from his own cows. Everybody loved Doc's ice cream so much that in 1939 he opened up the "Ice Cream House" |

In 1954 Ethel Davis sold the business to their neighbor Franklin Attridge. Franklin hired a high school student from right down the street named Rosemary Dee. Rose took quite a shine to the ice cream business and one of the stand's most frequent customers, William "Billy" Graves. Eventually Billy would get the item he wanted most at Doc's, Rose's heart. Billy and Rose eventually wed and in 1978, along with Rose's Brother Johnny Dee, they purchased Doc's from the Attridge estate. The three of them still own and operate the ice cream stand today. |

| Over the past 67 years the owners have changed and the flavor list has grown but the tradition has remained the same. Today, the ice cream is still homemade on the premises by Rose and Billy's oldest son Phil, still delivering to customers the freshest and best tasting ice cream in town. Just the way Doc did nearly 70 years ago. |
